The wax build-up needed to be carefully removed to protect the stone and adjacent wood floors. The right side image shows us meticulously removing the coating by hand to avoid damaging the adjacent wood floor.
In addition to build-up of wax, once the was was removed, we discovered etching and iron oxidation from plant pots.

Project Overview
Our customer in Powder Springs contacted DEZ Services with a goal: restore her marble floors to their original beauty. During our initial consultation, we discovered two challenges — layers of wax buildup and a combination of marble and granite tiles. Since marble and granite require different restoration techniques, this project demanded special attention and expertise.
Challenges
- Wax Coating: The floor had been coated with wax, which dulled the natural beauty of both the marble and granite tiles.
- Rust Staining: Rust stains had to be removed.
- Etching Discovered: After wax was removed, severe etching on the marble was discovered.
- Mixed Surfaces: The presence of both marble and granite required distinct restoration approaches to achieve a consistent, high-quality result.
- Proximity to Hardwood Floors: Care was needed to prevent chemical damage to adjacent hardwood flooring.
Our Solution
- Wax Removal: We stripped the wax using an alkaline cleaner. In areas near the hardwood flooring, we carefully removed wax manually with a scraper to protect the adjacent wood floor.
- Restoration Process:
- Marble: We honed and polished the marble tiles to remove stains and damage and restore their clarity and luster.
- Granite: We repolished the granite tiles separately, achieving a brilliant, high-gloss finish.
- Sealing: After polishing, we applied a professional-grade sealer to the newly restored surfaces to ensure long-lasting protection from spills and stains.
The Results
The transformation was stunning — the marble and granite floors now gleamed with renewed brilliance, meeting and exceeding the customer’s expectations.
